About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Jakša Tomović, Croatia, who makes and provides TONKO under his studio name Boiled Eggs Studio (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@tonko.app. They apply to the TONKO app and the website tonko.app. By creating a family or using TONKO you accept them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
If you buy through Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply to the purchase itself.
Who can use TONKO
- A family can be created only by a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years old.
- Children use TONKO as part of a family created by their parent, and with their parent's permission and supervision.
- You are responsible for the people you add to your family and for their use of TONKO, and you confirm you have the right to add each child.
Owner and parents
A family has one owner — the parent who created it, or the parent it was handed over to — and may have other parents who join by invitation. Every parent sees and manages the whole family.
- Only the owner can remove a parent, hand the family over to another parent and delete the whole family. These protect the children's history, which every parent relies on.
- Every parent can delete their own account at any time. Any other parent who does so leaves the family as it is; the owner hands the family over first, or deletes it.
- The parent who pays for TONKO Family manages it in their own Google Play account, whoever owns the family.
- If the owner can't be reached and a parent needs their child's data deleted, write to hello@tonko.app. We check who is asking and decide each case on its own.
What TONKO is, and isn't
TONKO helps families talk about, track and practise money: pocket money, jobs, goals, jars and short lessons.
- TONKO doesn't hold, send or receive money. Amounts in the app are a record that you keep for your family. You pay pocket money the way you always do.
- TONKO is not a bank, a payment service, an investment service or a financial adviser. The family bonus in Grow is a reward that parents set and pay themselves, not interest, and nothing is invested.
- Lessons, the Time Machine and examples are for learning. They are general and simplified, and are not financial advice.
Your account and security
- You sign in with your Google account. Keep it, your phone and your family PIN safe, and don't share the PIN with children.
- Keep the information in your family accurate, and remove phones you no longer use (Settings → Devices).
- Tell us at hello@tonko.app if you think someone has used your family without permission.
TONKO Family subscription
TONKO is free to use with one child. TONKO Family adds more children, Grow plans, the Money Time Machine, unlimited goals and every pack for Tonko. What is included is described in the app when you subscribe.
Free trial
The yearly plan starts with a 7-day free trial through Google Play, once per Google account. Google Play asks for a payment method when you start it, but charges nothing during the trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the 7 days end, the yearly subscription starts and is charged automatically. Cancel in Google Play before then and you pay nothing. The monthly plan has no free trial.
Payment and renewal
- Subscriptions are bought through Google Play, monthly or yearly, at the price Google Play shows you before you confirm (including any taxes that apply).
- Payment is charged to your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, for the same length and at the then-current price, until you cancel it.
- If the price changes, Google Play tells you in advance, and where the law or Google Play requires it, the new price applies only once you agree.
- One subscription covers the whole family, including every parent in it.
Cancelling
- Cancel any time in Google Play: open the Play Store → your profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → TONKO, or open your Google Play subscriptions.
- To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You keep TONKO Family until the end of the period you already paid for; afterwards your family returns to the free plan and nothing is deleted.
- Uninstalling TONKO or deleting your family does not cancel the subscription. Cancel it in Google Play first.
Packs for Tonko
- Packs are one-time purchases of extra outfits for Tonko. Only a parent can buy them; a child can only ask a parent, and never sees a price.
- A pack belongs to the family that bought it and stays with that family for as long as the family exists in TONKO. Packs are also included while TONKO Family is active.
- Packs are digital items for use in TONKO only. They have no cash value and can't be exchanged or transferred.
Refunds
All payments are processed by Google Play. Apart from where the law requires otherwise, payments are non-refundable, and we don't give refunds or credits for partly used periods, unused features, deleted families or packs you no longer use.
- You can ask Google for a refund under the Google Play refund policy. Google decides on those requests.
- Any statutory right of withdrawal you may have as a consumer is handled through Google Play under its terms.
- Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer, including your rights if digital content or a service is faulty or not as described.
What you add to TONKO
Jobs, notes, names and photos you or your children add remain yours. You allow us to store and show them within your family, only so TONKO can work. Please don't add anything unlawful, hurtful or anything that shows other people without their permission. A job photo should show the job, not a person.
Fair use
Please don't misuse TONKO: don't try to break into other families or our systems, disrupt the service, copy or resell the app, get around purchases or limits, or use TONKO for anything unlawful.
Our content
TONKO, Tonko the mascot, the Boiled Eggs Studio name and mascot, the app, its lessons, artwork and this website belong to Jakša Tomović and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use TONKO for your family, in line with these terms. Google Play and the Google Play logo are trademarks of Google LLC.
Changes and availability
We keep improving TONKO, so features may change. If a change removes something that is part of a paid subscription you already have, we will tell you in advance. We work to keep TONKO available, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or outages beyond our control.
Ending
You can stop using TONKO and delete your account at any time; the owner can also delete the whole family (see Delete your account). We may suspend or close a family that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms or the law. Where reasonable, we will warn you first and explain why.
Liability
We provide TONKO with care, but as a family tool, not a guarantee. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, or for money decisions made in real life with the help of TONKO.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence, for death or personal injury, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Croatia. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in the courts there or in Croatia.
If something goes wrong, write to hello@tonko.app first. Most things can be solved quickly.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when TONKO or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. We will tell you about important changes in the app in advance. If you don't agree, you can stop using TONKO and cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.
